Elcito, Marche's Tibet
Perched on a rocky spur over 800 meters high, Elcito is a magical place suspended in time. This experience is suitable for everyone: families, photography enthusiasts, and hikers can stroll in total peace through its quiet alleys.
The village is completely pedestrianized and easily visited, offering a rejuvenating escape from the daily hustle and bustle and authentic contact with the unspoiled nature of the Apennines.
The Village of Silence
Known by everyone as “the Tibet of the Marche”, Elcito is a tiny medieval village built entirely of stone and beautifully preserved. In the past, it originated as a fortified castle built to defend the Valfucina Abbey below; today, it has no commercial businesses or permanent residents, a detail that preserves its mysterious atmosphere and absolute peace.
From its natural terraces, the view is breathtaking, sweeping over Mount San Vicino and the surrounding valleys, offering one of the most photogenic panoramas in the region.
Furthermore, just a very short distance from the village lies the centuries-old Canfaito Beech Forest, an ideal spot to complete the excursion surrounded by monumental trees.
